July 22-24, 2014 Friends of the Medal of Honor Grove Make History  The Friends of the Medal of Honor Grove announce an important enhancement in the Grove. For the first time in its history, there is now a paved road along the Hawaii and Alaska acres at the far end of the Grove. These back acres were often overlooked by visitors and viewed as a wooded area. This new roadway will now allow the public to enjoy the Grove in its entirety on paved roadway. Visit the Hawaii acre and be greeted by the lava rocks placed at the walkway when the obelisk was added to the Grove. Read more

For the Friends 3rd consecutive year, the Friends have worked on the roadway. This year, a roadway was added.

PHOENIXVILLE – Greg Cary, Vice Chair of the Friends of the Medal of Honor Grove, on behalf of the board, accepted a check for $650 from the Valley Forge Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America on Saturday November 15th. The Valley Forge Chapter covers an area including Delaware and Chester counties, as well as portions of Bucks and Montgomery counties. Its residents live in Exton, Downingtown, Pottstown, Phoenixville, Norristown, Conshohocken, West Chester, Newtown Square, King of Prussia, and the Western Main Line from Bryn Mawr through Paoli.

This donation will go toward the cost of the ground plaques for the newly awarded 2014 Medal of Honor Recipients to be installed in 2015.

This MOAA fundraising initiative was spearheaded by the late Don Stout. In addition to being an MOAA board member, Don was also a faithful supporter and volunteer of the Friends of the Medal of Honor Grove and will be missed.
